LONDON: Chelsea advanced to the FA Cup final after beating Leeds United 1-0 in the semi-final at Wembley.
The only goal of the match was scored by Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez in the 23rd minute after heading in Pedro Neto’s cross.
The victory saw Chelsea, who are also eight-time champions, set to face Manchester City in the final scheduled to take place next month.
Despite dominating the first half, Chelsea had to rely on the agility of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez who displayed an impressive performance to deny attempts by Brenden Aaronson and Anton Stach.
The success comes despite the turmoil that has befallen the club, which fired manager Liam Rosenior last week following five consecutive defeats in the English Premier League.
Interim coach Calum McFarlane, who was in charge of the team for this match, is expected to continue coaching Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 16.
